Rashid Sumaila eyes bumper deal from Qadsia SC

Ghanaian international Rashid Sumaila says he is bent on extending his contract with Kuwaiti giants, Qadsia Sporting Club.

The initial deal of the 27-year-old central defender expires on June 30, 2020, but Sumaila is optimistic of renewing his contract.

"The club (Qadsia SC) doesn’t owe me anything. They have given me everything and we are in talks to renew the contract," Sumaila posted on his official Twitter page.

"We are praying this Coronavirus will end soon so we can all get back to work. I am always happy to be part of this big family at Qadsia club."

Graphic Sports understands that the Black Stars defender will be handed a fresh two-year bumper deal to ward off several suitors from Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries who are interested in his services.

Sumaila joined Qadsia SC from Mamelodi Sundowns in July 2015 and has remained a pillar at the back for the "Royals", winning two ‘Player of the Season’ awards.

He also played for Al Gharrafa in Qatar in 2016, as well as Serbian giants, Red Star Belgrade, last season (both on loan).
