Rugby team ready for Africa tourney, receives kit donation

The national rugby team, Black Eagles, have been boosted by the donation of 30 pieces of jerseys ahead of their trip this Friday to Niamey, Niger, for a  six-nation Rugby North Division II African Cup.

The team was presented with the jerseys and 30 pieces of hoses in Accra yesterday by the UK-based firm NMS Infrastructure.

At a brief event attended by the sector Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, and president of the Ghana Rugby Association, Gifty Annan-Myers, the head of operations of NMS Ghana, Kojo Hastings, expressed his outfit’s delight at witnessing the progress of Ghana rugby through the support of corporate entities like NMS International.

He noted that NMS would also assist in putting up a training facility for the national rugby teams, and reiterated his outfit’s commitment to see the rapid growth of the sport in the country.

Mr Afriyie Ankrah expressed his ministry’s commitment and support toward the development of all 36 sporting disciplines in the country.

He challenged the team to strive harder to attain the status of a category A sport in the country which would boost the support of the state towards the team.
