Black Stars defender Baba Rahman and midfielder Rabiu Mohammed have given an assurance they would offer their best if selected to ensure the team defeats the Cranes of Uganda in tomorrow’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at the Nelson Mandela National Stadium in Kampala.
Speaking to the Daily Graphic in separate interviews on the sidelines of a press soiree at the Alisa Hotel in Accra to commemorate the first anniversary of uniBank’s sponsorship of the Stars, they both acknowledged that the match was very important, as the Ugandans would not be mere pushovers at their backyard.
The two added that Uganda’s Nations Cup hopes largely depended on the outcome of tomorrow’s match. Rahman acknowledged that the team’s defence had not been as strong as expected of late, but was confident caretaker, coach Maxwell Konadu, had worked on their weakness .
“Sometimes we concede goals that could have been avoided, but the coach has now worked on it.
We are ,therefore, fired up as we emplane for Uganda because we have trained very well. So with the support and prayers of the fans, I am certain we will return home with broad smiles,”added defender Baba Rahman, who plays for German side, FC Augsburg.
For his part, Russia-based midfielder, Rabiu Mohammed, said he had been nursing some injuries a few months ago, but had fully recovered and was ready to do battle against the Ugandans.
According to the lanky player, his teammates had already consigned their first match against the Cranes to history and were, therefore, going to Uganda with a mentality to win.
“ We know the match will not be easy, but mark my words, we will return home victorious, “ assured the Krasnodar player.
