Political party leaders put aside their ideological and personal differences and teamed up to play against retired footballers in a peace match at the Accra Stadium It was a public display of solidarity aimed at drumming home tolerance and defusing political tension in society ahead of tomorrow’s Supreme Court ruling on the 2012 election petition.
All the candidates in the 2012 presidential election with the notable exception of President John Mahama and Nana Akufo-Addo, teamed up with other political heavyweights, including NDC National Chairman, Dr Kwabena Adjei, PNC General; Secretary, Bernard Monarh, Minister of Trade Haruna Iddrisu, and some notable MPs from the NPP camp featured against old stars, including legends such as Mohammed Polo, Sampson Lamptey, Awuley Quaye and others.
The Minister of Youth amnd Sports, Elvis Afriyie ankrah, took the ceremonial kick-off for the match which attracted people from all walks of life.
