The winner of last month’s Graphic Sports online predict-and-win competition, Kwame Nani Kportsu, has challenged the paper to develop its online platforms to become the leading source for breaking sports news just as the paper has gained a reputation as the sports paper of choice on the Ghanaians market.
He said ardent readers of the Graphic Sports would be better served if the paper’s online version and Facebook page were improved with regular updates and more appealing graphics and photographs, including regular promotional raffles, to enhance their experience with the paper.
Kportsu, a graphic artist based at Keta, made the remarks after visiting the offices of Graphic Sports a few days ago to receive his prize for successfully predicting the scoreline between Ghana’s Black Satellites and their French counterparts in the semi-finals of the recent FIFA Under-20 World Cup in Turkey.
Kportsu’s prize — free subscription of Graphic Sports — was presented to him by Felix Abayateye, Editor of Graphic Sports, who later briefed him on operations at the unit and introduced other members of staff.
“Matches must also be previewed with regular updates so we the ardent readers can better follow global sporting events to guide us when predicting matches,’’ he said, adding that such online promotions must be sustained.
“We the readers will like to see on the Graphic Sports online page exciting news like player transfers, minute-by-minute updates of matches, teams’ line-ups before a match.”
Even though Kportsu admitted how elated he was after successfully predicting the match and winning the prize, he was of the opinion that prizes of such promotion should be made more attractive to reward loyal readers.
In response, the Assistant Editor of the Graphic Sports, Maurice Quansah, assured him that his concerns would be given high consideration and said steps were being taken to enhance the paper’s online platforms with the introduction of new and exciting features such as photo galleries, short videos and regular updates during the forthcoming Ghana Premier League and other important competitions.
