Palmer rejects GFA appointment
The president of Tema Youth Football Club, Wilfred Kweku Osei, has turned down his appointment to serve on the Ad-hoc Compensation Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The disqualified GFA presidential candidate rejected the offer to serve on the three-member committee hours after being notified of the appointment.

“Palmer has turned down the appointment and has also written to the GFA to that effect,” a source close to Mr Osei told Graphic Sports Online on Friday.
The source thought it was inapproprate for the GFA to make such an appointment barely a week to the announcement of a crucial ruling by Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in respect of the case between Palmer and the GFA.
CAS had earlier rescheduled the much-anticipated ruling from July 17 to August 4.
The Adhoc Compensation Committee, chaired by Mr Frederick Nana Kweku Moore, the Chief Executive Officer of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club. was formed by the GFA Executive Council (ExCo) this week to decide on the remuneration of its members for approval by Congress as stipulated in the GFA Statutes of 2019.
Other members of the Committee are Wilfred Kwaku Osei and Delali Eric Senaye, Chief Executive Officer of Inter Allies Football Club.
The ExCo made the appointment based on the powers prescribed under Article 42(2) of the GFA Statutes 2019.
Article 42(2) of the GFA Statutes provides that, “the remuneration of members of the Executive Council shall be proposed by an Ad-hoc Compensation Committee and approved by Congress.”
The Committee is expected to submit its work in time to form part of the Congress documents that will be sent to members of Congress as the formal convocation of Congress under Article 31(3) of the GFA Statutes 2019.
For now, the GFA has been taking the sitting allowance approved by the previous Executive Committee before the coming into office of the Normalisation Committee.
