Milan ready to sell Essien

Ghana midfielder Michael Essien may be heading for the exit door at AC Milan who are reportedly to offload him to Turkish side Trabzonspor.

The 31-year-old was initially linked with Besiktas at the start of this summer, but his future at Milan looked increasingly doubtful following the exit of Clarence Seedorf, who signed the Ghanaian after had been consigned to the bench at Chelsea and made only a handful of appearances at Stamford Bridge.

According to Italy’s TuttoSport, Trabzonspor have tabled an offer for the Essien and are willing to pay as much as €4m for the midfielder.

The Ghanaian made just seven appearances in the Serie A, including three starts, but his exit looks imminent as new coach Filipo Inzaghi is looking for reinforcements, with Napoli ready to release Milan target, Blerim Dzemaili, provided the San Siro side are ready to pay the midfielder’s €4 million price tag.

Essien joined Milan on a free transfer and his contract runs until 2015.
