Tarkwa-based Medeama Sporting Club come face to face with their Sudanese counterparts Al Ahly Shendi tomorrow at the Essipong Stadium in the second leg of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup.
The Mauve and Yellows earned a well-deserved goalless draw against Ahly Shendi in Sudan a fortnight ago in the first leg tie and are hoping to punish the visitors tomorrow to advance to the next round.
Yesterday, the head coach of the club, Tom Christian Strand, told the Daily Graphic that he was confident his charges would deliver the needed win to sustain Ghana in Africa.
The FA Super Cup holders have suffered two successive losses to Liberty Professionals in the MTN FA Cup competition and Sekondi Hasaacas in their last Premier League encounter.
However, the expatriate coach said they would go into tomorrow’s game with a winning mentality as those losses could not be used as a yardstick to determine their performance in the continental assignment.
While Medeama edged out Libyan side Al Ittihad Tripoli 2-1 on aggregate to reach this stage, Shendi hammered Congolese side Saint-Eloi Lupopo 1-0 to make it this far.
Meanwhile, Al Ahly Shendi arrived in the country last Friday and have been training at the Lizzie Sports Complex at East Legon ahead of the game.
