Man City supporters want Guardiola out

A section of Manchester City supporters have called for manager Pep Guardiola to be sacked following their shocking exit from the Champions League on Saturday.

Guardiola's side lost 3-1 at the hands of French side Lyon, with former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele scoring twice late on and striker Raheem Sterling missing a glaring chance for City to level the game.

The loss means City have the League Cup triumph in February as their only trophy honour this season and the #PepOut hashtag was trending in the UK yesterday morning.

One fan tweeted: “I know Pep has given us some fond memories. But the truth is that he is spending so much and still hasn't solved our defence.

“He can't even defeat Lyon, forget Munich. Maybe it was good we lost or would have been embarrassed by them.”

Another said: “Thanks for the memories Pep Guardiola but its time to go #pepout”.

Fans of other teams have jumped on the “Guardiola Out” bandwagon, with some implying that the Spanish coach is not as good as fans make out.

One supporter claimed: “The “Pep way” is f***** awful. Glad to see people finally seeing him for what he is: A BANG AVERAGE manager.

“Had a ready made team at Barca & threw hundreds of millions on players at Man City and for what? A Mickey Mouse cup at the end of it. Overrated as F***! #PepOut”.

One fan was very critical of the coach's tactical decisions of late, saying: “Pep Guardiola spent £134m this season on defensive recruits only to finish the season 18 points behind Liverpool in the Premier League, no major trophies besides the league cup and lost more games than Ole’s Man United in the League. That’s a sackable offence for sure!'

Guardiola, who is regarded as one of the greatest managers of all-time, arrived in England in 2016 and has won two Premier League titles, three League Cups and one FA Cup during his time at City.
