The Black Maidens, Ghana's Under-17 female football team, have qualified for their fourth Women's World Cup (WWC) after beating Equatorial Guinea 3-2 in Malabo last Saturday.
The Maidens, who won 2-0 in the first leg in Accra three weeks ago, thus qualified the U-17 WWC to be held in Costa Rica from March to April 2014, with a 5-2 aggregate.
Playing their first competitive match in the first leg, the Maidens were not convincing despite the goals from Jane Ayieyam and Laardi Issaka, but they made amends in Malabo, with Ayieyam and Issaka striking again for the Maidens to put victory beyond doubt.
Nigeria were the first to qualify following the withdrawal of South Sudan from the final qualifying group.
South Africa and Zambia who played to a 3-3 draw in Lusaka three weeks ago, are also vying for the final slot for Africa.
