Ghana's Under-17 female football team, Black Maidens, say they are ready for the challenge their guests, Equatorial Guinea, will pose when they meet at the Accra Sports Stadium tomorrow for a Women's World Cup (WWC) qualifier.
The Maidens host Equatorial Guinea in the first leg of the second round of the qualifying series which will end with a slot for next year's tournament to be held in Costa Rica.
The Equatorial Guineans arrived in Accra last Tuesday for the match and are brimming with confidence over a good result.
"We know Ghana are a good side because of what they achieved in Azerbaijan last year but we are here to also win and qualify," one of the officials told the Graphic Sports at their training yesterday.
While Coach Evans Adotey and his team are not dismissing the tough challenge their guests will pose, they are equally prepared for the challenge and, thus, look forward to an exciting game tomorrow.
"We are not taking anything for granted. We know they are among the best teams on the continent, but to be able to qualify for the WWC, we need to clear all hurdles in our way and that is exactly what we will be doing to ensure that the return leg becomes a mere formality," Coach Adotey also said.
He said the team was raring to go as all its injury concerns had been resolved and all the players were ready for action.
