Lomotey celebrates first international goal

Young West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) speedster and leading scorer, Daniel Lomotey, celebrated his debut goal for his country last Sunday after netting the winner for Black Stars B to ensure a 2-1 victory over Togo in an international friendly in Lome.

The 17-year old hitman came off the bench to strike his first international goal after 72 minutes at the Stadé de Kegué in the Togolese capital.

Lomotey replaced injured Stephen Sarfo to mark his international debut and the youngster was quick to punish Togo for over-celebration just seconds after the West African neighbours had cancelled Ghana's first half lead.

The former Denart Soccer Academy of Ada wonder kid, who joined WAFA from Nii Odartey Lamptey's Glow-Lamp Academy, hailed the feat, saying it was the happiest day in his budding career. He hopes to bang in more goals when the qualifiers start for CHAN 2018.

"I'm very excited to get my first goal for my country. I thank the technical team, my teammates, coaches Kwasi Appiah and Maxwell Konadu and the entire technical team for giving me such an opportunity," the WAFA goal machine said after the match.

"I'm hoping to be fit to continue with my goal-scoring form and pray that I get more goals for Ghana in the CHAN qualifiers if I am given the opportunity," Lomotey said confidently.

The teenage sensation currently has seven goals and three assists in the 2017 Ghana Premier League campaign, one goal in the MTN FA Cup before topping it up by opening his Ghana account with his first international goal against Togo.
