Defending league champions, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, came from a goal down in the second half to beat Dormaa-Ahenkro-based Aduana Stars 2-1 as they opened their defence with an important win.
Two quick goals from Kotoko returnee Jordan Opoku and Seidu Bansey in the 52nd and 62nd minutes respectively won the day for the Porcupine Warriors who played their home match away from their traditional Baba Yara Stadium following a three-match home ban handed them from last season due to crowd violence in their match against Medeama.
Aduana scored the opener through Daniel Darkwa in the 48th minute when he tapped home beautifully a corner kick by Godfred Saaka to beat goalkeeper Isaac Amoako in post for Kotoko.
In Sekondi, Moses Dotsey Aklorbotu reports that Sekondi Hasaacas strongly announced their return to the premiership when they held visiting Meadeama FC to a spirited goalless draw at the Sekondi Sports Stadium at Essipon.
But the homesters have themselves to blame for failing to grab the three points at stake as their strikers threw away all thescoring chances that came their way.
