Kotoko settle for draw

Fans of Kumasi Asante Kotoko were hoping for a positive change in the results of their team, but they had to settle for yet another draw as their team fought from a goal down to hold Aduana to a 1-1 result at their favourite Baba Yara Stadium home.

A string of drawn results at their Baba Yara home compelled Kotoko management to send Croatian coach Zdravko Logarusic packing some weeks ago, and Godwin Ablordey and Frimpong Manso have been brought on to steady the boat, but after two league games in charge, they are yet to find an antidote to draw jinx at home as they recorded their sixth stalemate.

Aduana stunned Kotoko as early as the seventh minute when  Wahab Adams struck home the match opener after Kotoko goalkeeper, Felix Annan failed to decisively deal with Mumuni Zakaria’s cross.

It took Kotoko 40th minute to draw level in the 47th minute when substitute Abaass Mohammed expertly scored from a free kick right on the edge of the penalty box.

The visitors dominated the exchanges in the first half and could have buried the game in the first half, if they had taken advantage of their chances.

However, the game took a different trend when the Porcupine Warriors took the game to their opponents and dictated the pace of the game.

Although the two teams created glorious chances that could have won them the game, all the chances went abegging.

The entry of Kotoko’s Abass Mohammed in the 46th minute for Kwame Boateng, who wasted  a penalty in the first half, brought some urgency into the game.

The equaliser also buoyed the confidence of the Kotoko players who became more daring and creative up front.

Yussif Abubakar’s lads did not feel threatened by the home crowd that came to support their team.  At a point, it was difficult to tell which side was playing at home as the visitors played beautiful football to the admiration of the spectators.
