Ghana’s foremost soccer rivals , Kumasi Asante Kotoko and Accra Hearts of Oak, last Monday set their arsenals for Africa conquest when they named their men for the battle.
The Porcupine Warriors, who kick-start their campaign with a date with Sierra Leone champions, East End, named 27 players in their squad.
They included Rahim Ayew, who is currently out of contract and Rashid Sumaila.
The list also had goalkeepers, Isaac Amoako, Eric Ofori Antwi and Joseph Addo, with Amos Frimpong, Ohene Brenyah, Smallboy Korbah, Emmanuel Asante, Akwesi Acheampong, Abeiku Ainooson, Eric Donkor and Christopher Bonney, all defenders.
Others, made up of midfielders, were Larbi Koomson, Richard Mpong, Prince Baffoe, Michael Akuffu, Kwadwo Poku, Stephen Oduro , Frank Sarfo Gyamfi, Jordan Opoku, Dauda Mohammed
The rest, all strikers, were Obed Owusu, Mamadou Kone, Abdul Latif Amadu, Ahmed Toure and Richard Oti
Hearts, who open their Confederation Cup campaign with a duel against AS Police of Benin, had 26 players in their squad.
The list included three goalkeepers, Mutawakilu Siedu, Abdoulaye Soulama and Tetteh Luggard. Others, defenders were Shawn October, Vincent Atinga, Robin Gnagne, Kweku Andoh, Owusu Bempah, Phillip Boampong, Hamza Mohammed, Isaac Oduro and Abraziz Abankwa.
The midfielders in the squad were Kofi Abanga, Thomas Abbey, Richard Yamoah, Emmanuel Hayford, Eric Kumi, Leonard Tawiah, Ollenu Ashitey, Gerald Willington, Paul Acquah and Issah Mumuni
The rest were Kwame Kizito, Foovi Aguidi, Selasie Agyei and Gilbert Fiamenyo, all strikers.
