J.F Mensah: We’ve high hopes to win CAS case

The campaign manager of Wilfred Kwaku Osei Palmer, J.F Mensah, says he has high expectations of the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and is confident that his candidate will win the case.

He stressed that his campaign team would only make an official statement after CAS had come out with its decision.

Speaking to Graphic Sports, Mr Mensah, however, emphasised that the much-awaited ruling from CAS would go in favour of his candidate as they keenly prepare for the verdict on Friday.

“We are confident of winning the case with the input made so far, and i am very optimistic of our chance”.

Palmer was disqualified by the Normalisation Committee after vetting, thus preventing him from vying for the high office of Ghana football when the position became vacant following the resignation of former GFA president, Kwesi Nyantakyi, in 2018 over the Anas Number 12 exposé on corruption in Ghana Football.

The Tema Youth owner appealed against the decision but it was overruled by the NC, leading to the conducting of the GFA elections on October 25, 2019. Kurt Okraku emerged winner to become the new GFA president for a four-year term, beating hot contenders George Afriyie and Nana Yaw Amponsah, as well as Amanda Clinton, Fred Pappoe, and George Ankamah.

Still bent on proving his innocence, Palmer who had previously won another case against the GFA at CAS decided to seek redress at the apex sports court in Switzerland this time around.
