Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko will renew their age-long rivalry on Monday at the Baba Yara Stadium in an off-season confrontation dubbed ‘Top 2’.
The Top 2 game was instituted some two years ago by the former bosses of the two clubs, Dr K.K. Sarpong, former Executive Chairman of Kotoko and Fred Crentsil, former CEO of Hearts after the two most glamorous clubs in Ghana pulled out of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA)’s Top 8 competition.
The two clubs managed to pull a massive crowd in those maiden two-legged games at the Baba Yara Stadium and the Accra Sports Stadium.
Both sides failed to break the deadlocked in their two encounters.
Monday’s encounter promises to be full of thrills and excitement as the two teams will be parading some of their new signings.
Hearts already have in their stable two former Kotoko goalkeepers, Seidu Mutawakilu and Abodoulaye Soulama, Saint Kwame Kizito, among others, while Kotoko boast Ahmed Toure, Sarfo Gyamfi and a host of others.
The return leg will be plaged on Sunday, October 12.
