Kumasi Asante Kotoko have been challenged to make a strong impression on Ghana Football when they represent the country in the CAF Champions League next season.
A statement by Voltic Ghana Limited congratulating the Porcupine Warriors for winning the last edition of the Premier League said: “We are confident that Kotoko will make an impact in the next CAF Champions League and we believe the club has what it takes to bring that highly coveted trophy back home to Ghana.” it said.
Voltic Ghana Limited is one of the sponsors of the Premier League.
It noted that the successful defence of the title by Kotoko was evident of their dominance in what was fast becoming a highly competitive league in the country.
The bottled water manufacturing company also expressed its pride to be associated with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), the football governing body in the country, and reaffirmed its support for the GFA as the association strives to take Ghanaian football to greater heights.
Voltic also tasked the Premier League Board (PLB), organisers of the Glo Premier League, to tackle the issue of crowd violence at some league centres and apply stringent sanctions wherever such incidents occurred with the full force of the law against identified offenders.
It also encouraged the teeming supporters of participating clubs to maintain utmost discipline as a means of ensuring a peaceful atmosphere before, during and after league matches at the various centres.
In addition, the company urged the GFA not to relent in its efforts to improve the level of professionalism in local football, especially in the areas of recruitment of players, branding and marketing of the Premier League and how football clubs could boost their finances.
“As the clubs prepare for the 2013/14 season of the Glo Premier League, we wish them all the best of luck”, it concluded.
The company has a three-year sponsorship deal with the FA, worth GH₵195, 000.
