Ghana prays Portugal beat USA

Ghana's destiny in the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil now rests on the outcome of today's Group G clash between USA and Portugal in, despite plucking a vital point against Germany in Fortaleza on Saturday.

That was the consensus among the Black Stars players immediately after their hard-fought 2-2 draw with three-time champions Germany at the Estadio Castelao in Fortaleza on Saturday.

Sulley Muntari summed up the sentiments of his teammates when he said in a post-match interview that they were only waiting for the outcome of the US-Portugal game today.

With one point in two games, the Black Stars now need a win against Portugal while praying for a good result by Portugal to remain in contention for a second round berth.

Portugal needs a win badly today to brighten their chances, and that of Ghana after their 0-4 whacking by Portugal in their opening group match last week.

However, the US need at least a draw today to move to four points and have the edge to fight for another point against Germany in their last group match to secure their qualification.

But if the US lose today and Ghana beat Portugal on Thursday, then the Black Stars' dream will remain on course.
