A successful completion of the process could see Dauda,  joining the club within weeks.

The Chief Executive Officer of  AshantiGold S/C, Kudjoe Fianoo, who was in South Africa last week for talks with officials of Pirates, could not seal a deal for the transfer of the club’s shot-stopper even though the two parties have agreed that Dauda’s transfer was dependent on the success of his medical.

Mr Fianoo’s trip to South Africa last week also enabled him to discuss a possible transfer of the club’s striker, Yakubu Mohammed, who is also expected to undergo medicals after Ashgold’s final Premier League match next week.

“There were talks between Ashgold and Orlando Pirates, and there have been some negotiations over the two players with each party quoting a figure. But it is not a done deal yet as the players in question would have to pass their medicals,” Mr Fianoo told the Daily Graphic.

Dauda who was in post for Ghana in their 2-0 win over Lesotho in Maseru last Sunday arrived in Johannesburg yesterday for his medicals.

The goalie caught the attention of the Johannesburg-based side following his exploits with the Black Stars at this years Africa cup of nations held in South Africa.

Winners of South Africa’s Premier Soccer League in 2011 and 2012 , the Buccaneers, as Pirates are nicknamed, are seeking to strengthen their team after securing a place in the CAF Champions League quarter-final. They beat former champions, TP Mazembe of DR Congo to reach the last eight or the so-called ‘money zone’ of Africa’s premier club competition.

Pirates are drawn in Group A against record winners, Egypt’s Al Ahly, Congo’s Leopards and another former champions, Zamalek, also of Egypt, for the group stage of the Champions League.
