Colombia striker, Radamel Falcao, has said that, although his recovery from a serious knee injury is going well, he will not take any undue risks about declaring himself fit to play for his country in this summer’s World Cup.
The 28-year-old sustained serious ligament damage playing a Coupe de France match for Monaco against Chasselay in January.
"It is very clear that this pressure cannot be allowed to affect my recovery," he told Marca. "I will do my best to get there and it would be ideal. But the important thing is to be well and to recover properly.
"I can't allow my dream to be in Brazil with my country affect the condition of my knee."
Despite these words, the former Atletico Madrid attacker remains upbeat over his prospects of being ready.
"I feel good, the response of the knee in the first phase of the recovery has been positive. There have been no problems and that has allowed me to work well. The evolution has been rapid."
Falcao has scored 20 times for his country in 51 appearances.
