Popular supporters group, the Die-Hard Supporters Union, has lauded government for engineering the return of key members of the Black Stars to the team.
According to the group’s founder, Abraham Nkansah, the players — Sulley Muntari, Andre Ayew, Jordan Ayew and Kevin Prince Boateng — although not indispensable are vital to ensure the nation’s qualification for next year’s World Cup in Brazil.
At a function in Accra last Sunday where the group announced its acquisition of a website address and a channel through which to communicate its agenda to Ghanaians and the media, Mr Nkansah, popularly called Akpuilugu Chakapaama, said “We thank government for stepping in and bringing back these illustrious sons of the land into the Black Stars fold”.
The website - diehardsupportersunionofghana.com - is expected to enhance the work of the group in bringing members together to support Ghana sports at all levels, according to Mr Nkansah.
“We have vowed and are determined to throw our weight and support behind all sporting disciplines in the country so as to ensure the Ghana flag is hoisted the highest in all competitions, among all nations in any sporting endeavour,” he told the Graphic Sports.
He also pledged that his outfit would throng the Baba Yara Stadium on September 6 to support the Black Stars in their match against Zambia.
He appealed to corporate bodies to come to the group’s aid to help in their relentless effort to support the stars and other national teams to victory.
