The Black Satellites need to produce a class act this afternoon if they are to qualify for the next Africa Youth Championship after they made heavy weather of their home tie of the final qualifier in Accra.
Their inability to beat their Gabonese counterparts in a goalless drawn game at the Accra sports Stadium has made qualification even more difficult as they face the stubborn Gabonese in the return leg clash in Libreville today.
Although the situation looks dicey for the Ghanaians, a lot will be expected of Satellite’s coach Sellas Tetteh, who in the past steered the Satellites to landmark achievements, to bring his rich experience to bear on today’s game to ensure qualification to next year’s continental championship.
Tetteh's task looks quite daunting after his charges wasted a fine opportunity to win at home to reduce the pressure and uncertainties that characterise such crucial away duels.
Ealier in the week, the coach named a strong contingent comprising: Owusu Bempah, Latif Abubakar, Joseph Adjei, Christopher Bonney, Stephen Anokye, among others, to rescue the team’s qualifying campaign.
Coach Tetteh says his charges are motivated to put in a fight of their lives to scale the final hurdle to realise their dreams at the expense of the home side.
Victory or a scoring draw in Libreville will guarantee the Satellites the ticket in the continental competition which serves as qualifiers to the world championship.
