Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal is sweating on the fitness of winger Angel di Maria after the Argentine was substituted after 13 minutes of last Saturday's 3-0 win over Hull City.
United have suffered a raft of injury problems this season, Di Maria’s setback the 42nd they have encountered since Louis van Gaal took over at Old Trafford.
The British-record signing will be absent when United host Stoke City in the Premier League tomorrow after picking up a hamstring strain early on against the Tigers.
"I think Di Maria was hamstring,” Van Gaal confirmed after the match. “He knows his own body very well because at once he said he had to come off, so maybe it is not too bad.
"It is always difficult to say. We will have to wait and see. He shall be out for the match against Stoke for sure."
United also have concerns about captain Wayne Rooney, who was limping badly at the full-time whistle having scored the second goal in a comfortable victory.
"He had a kick on his calf I believe,” added Van Gaal. “He then had a kick on his knee but it was not too serious because he said he will play."
