England bound?

The Graphic Sports understands that Red Star Belgrade are eager to renew his contract but the striker has his mind set on a move to England where he fancies playing in the Premiership or Championship.

Boakye, 27, first  joined Red Star on January 1, 2017 from then Italian side Latina which had gone into deep financial impact and made a big impact before being signed by Chinese side Jiangsu Suning in February 26, 2018.

With just three goals and one assist in 16 games in the Chinese Super League , he rejoined Red Star on August 31, 2018 for a cut price of 2.8 Million Dollars though injuries had hampered his progress since then.

He has netted just six times and provided three assists in 22 games in all competitions this season for the Serbian league leaders.

Aside from his desire to play in England, Scottish clubs Celtic and Rangers are all said to be interested in him and could swoop for his signature in the impending summer transfer window.

Boakye has previously featured for clubs including Genoa, Atalanta, Juventus, Sassuolo, Roda JC and a host of others.

He scored for Genoa on his Italian Serie A debut as a 17-year-old on April 3, 2010 against Livorno when he came in as a substitute for Dennis Suazo.

The forward has been capped 14 times by Ghana at the senior level and has netted six goals.
