Black Stars win GoTV/WAFU Tournament

The Black Stars of Ghana (locally-based players) beat their Senegalese counterparts 3:1 to win the trophy at stake in the finals of the GoTV/WAFU Tournament played in Kumasi Thursday e evening.


Kwabena Edusei converted two penalties, one in the first minute and the other a controversial call by referee Jerry Yeke barely five minutes from the end to add to Latif Mohammed’s easy second half goal to dismiss the Teranga Lions.

The Lions’ only goal came through enterprising skipper Roger Gomis, who rifled home a deserved equaliser past Stephen Adams in the 21st minute.

The Lions finished the game with 10 men as Thioune Ousseynou was sent off for violent play.

Togo had earlier beaten Benin 2-1 in the third-place encounter to pick bronze.
