Head coach of Ghana's Black Queens, Yussif Basigi, says playing Cameroun and South Africa at the group stage of this year's African Women's Championship (AWC) is not a problem at all for his side as he believes good preparation by his side would be enough to face these two heavyweights.
The three teams, as well as Algeria have been drawn in Group B for the October 11 to 23 tournament in Namibia, with Coach Basigi confident his ladies will clear the hurdle in the so-called Group of Death.
"Before the draw, we said we were ready for any side. We still stand by that because we will have to conquer the heavyweights before we achieve our dream of becoming champions.
"Apart from Algeria, we have played both South Africa and Cameroun several times at this competition, and there will be a lot of revenge plots when the competition kicks off,” Coach Basigi said.
The Camerounians were responsible for the Queens' absence at the 2012 AWC, while the South Africans have had a tough time against Ghana at the championship.
Ghana open their campaign with a game against Algeria and then play South Africa with the final group game against Cameroun.
In Group A, hosts, Namibia have been drawn against champions, Nigeria, Cote d'Ivoire and Zambia.
The Namibia tournament serves as a FIFA Women's World Cup qualifying event, the champions, runners-up and third placed team will qualify for the tournament in Canada.
