Benso win maiden MP’s gala

The participating communities were Gomoa Benso, Aboso, Akroful and Akropong, all in the Gomoa Central Constituency.

In the first semi-final, Akroful beat Akropong 5-4 on penalties after the match ended goalless in regulation time to advance to the final.

In the second encounter, Benso defeated Aboso 5-4 also on penalties to meet Akroful in the final.

In the third-place match, Akropong beat Aboso 5-4 on penalties, while Benso pipped Akroful 2-1 to life the trophy and the GH¢200 cash prize at stake.

Akroful received GH¢150 for placing second, followed by Akropong with GH¢100, while Aboso had GH¢50. Each of the teams was presented with a set of jersey and a football.

Ms Appoh, who is also a Deputy Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, said she thought it wise to bring all the youth in the competing towns together through football instead of organising a party to win and dine.

He stated that the completion would be an annual affair and would be rotational so that all the communities would also take part.
