Portugal and Real Madrid winger Cristiano Ronaldo says he won’t offended if he fails to win the Ballon d’or this year, stressing that the award is not the most important thing in football.
The Portugese who won the Ballon d’Or in 2008 is tipped to win this year’s award ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi. He has, however, maintained that he is not concerned with individual accolades.
"The Ballon d'Or is not the most important thing in a footballer's career," the Blancos forward told beIN Sport. "There are many more years.
"It is important for many players and I can understand that, but it's just an individual trophy.
"Of course, it would be nice to win but it would not be the end of the world otherwise. Moreover, great players who deserved it have never won it."
