BA Utd set for premiership return

After spending some seasons in the wilderness, former Premier League side, BA United, look set to bounce back to the elite division next season.

The Brong Ahafo side only require a draw in their game against Wa African United at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast tomorrow to book the last ticket to the premiership after winning their two previous games.

The ‘Apostles of Power Soccer’ registered a hard fought 1-0 victory over RTU, having earlier thumped Brekum Arsenals 2-0 in the first game last weekend.

Obviously, BA United, the team considered to possess the most formidable defence in the Middle League, having kept a clean sheet so far, look poised to overpower stubborn Wa African United.

But with clinical finishers such as Eric Borketey and Nuhu Yakubu, the Wa side could be a threat to their opponents, although victory would still not guarantee them qualification.

Their fighting spirit saw them battle from three goals down to lose 2-3 to RTU in the first game, despite having a porous defence which has conceded seven goals in two matches.

Aware of that lapse, BA United would hope to capitalise on it to beat the 'whipping boys of the group' and snatch the last ticket to join Accra Great Olympics and Gomoa Fetteh Feyenoord in the elite division next season.

Arsenals and RTU, on the other hand, have equal chances of qualifying to the elite division.

With three points apiece, Arsenals would hope to steal the slot from their Brong Ahafo rivals by beating RTU at the  Robert Mensah Stadium tomorrow while hoping for a favourable result in the other game.

Such an outcome might be costly for RTU coach, Mohammed Gargo, who is also determined to stage a comeback with the Tamale-based side.
