While congratulating President Akufo-Addo on his appointment as the new chairman of the sub-regional body during the body’s 57th Summit held in Niamey, Niger, last Monday, the CAF boss pledged the support of the continental football governing body to ECOWAS.

“I am certain that during your Chairmanship, ECOWAS will maintain and accelerate its constructive and sympathetic contribution to African football”, he said in a statement.

The CAF boss emphasised that he was confident President Akufo-Addo would succeed in his new role as the chairman of ECOWAS and pledged CAF’s assistance and expressed hope of the chairman’s “contribution to African football”.

“As you embark upon your new responsibilities, I wish to assure you and the people of West Africa of CAF’s continued support and friendship. I am certain that during your presidency, ECOWAS will maintain and accelerate its constructive contribution to African football”.

Ahmad wished President Akufo-Addo who succeeded Nigerien President, Muhamadou Issoufour, well as he assumes the challenging position of the chairman of ECOWAS.

“Kindly accept, Mr President, once again my warm congratulations on your appointment and my best wishes as you prepare to take up the responsibilities and challenges of your high office”, the statement said.
