GBA sets up fund to assist boxer Isaac Aryee

The Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) has set up a fund to solicit for financial support for Isaac Aryee, a boxer who sustained various degrees of injury when he was allegedly knocked down by a police vehicle about three weeks ago.

Named the Isaac Aryee Fund, it will receive donations from the boxing fraternity, boxing enthusiasts and other well-meaning members of the public to assist in footing the medical bills of Aryee while receiving treatment at the hospital.

A statement issued by the GBA and signed by its president Peter Zwennes, noted that the authority took the decision after realising the magnitude of bills accumulated by the boxer since being admitted at to Korle Bu Teaching Hospital.

The GBA statement also recognised the payment of GH¢14,000 last week by Youth and Sports Ministry’s for Aryee to undergo a successful surgery.

It noted that donations could be made at the Accra Stadium to Patrick Johnson, General Secretary of the GBA and Naa Darkua Dodoo, the PRO of the sport’s regulatory body.
