Dr Bart-Plange passes on

The death is announced in Accra of Dr. Joseph Bart-Plange (aka Bani Obati), who died on Sunday, October 20, 2013. He was 76 and left behind a wife, Mrs Maa Cee Plange, and seven children.

The late Dr Bart-Plange, a medical officer-in-charge of Plange Memorial Clinic in Accra, was also a key sportsman who actively sponsored boxing and horse racing, the sport of kings.

In boxing, he partnered Mr Sandy Anderson under the Sunrise Boxing Promotions Syndicate to manage and promote such champions as Razor Akwei Addo, Ebo Danquah and Nigerian Tubor Briggs, among others.

He was a patron of the now defunct Accra Race Course and a renowned horse owner, the names of whose horses included Bani Obati, Okwe Nnoko, Ona Ni Ona, Ono Dzi Ono, Oblinyanko Oblinyanko, Yaa Nyan, Super Mugu Yaro, Gbei Agbo, Gbei Wulu and Na Arunabi Korkor.

According to a family spokesman, funeral and burial will be held in Accra on Thursday, December 5, 2013.
