‘Discovery Karakata’ boxing thrills Feb 22

Boxing fans in Accra  will be treated to a night of quality competition  among some of the nation’s promising boxers on February 22 at the Arts Centre.

Veteran boxing promoters, Obric Sala and Ambition Boxing Promotion, have teamed up again to stage an exciting five-bout bill involving the nation’s 10 best local fighters in a showdown for titles and pride. 

On the packed bill dubbed “Discovery Karakata”, titles would be put at stake for local favourites while reputations would be enhanced among some of the fighters on the night.

Topping the bill is a 12-round banter between Isaac Aryee, alias “My Time”, from the Black Panther gym and Justice Addy, alias “Quick Action”, of the Bronx Gym.

Fireworks are expected in the vacant national super welterweight championship between Aryee Ayitey, alias “Volcano” of the Saga Gym, and Isaac Serlom, alias “Terror Stone” of the Bronx Gym,  as both fighters come into the fight with impressive records. 

A tense eight-round welterweight contest will be staged between Dodze Kermah of Saga Gym and Kpakpo Allotey of Bronx Gym, while spectators are expected to be served with a thriller between Raymond Commey, alias Chorkor Banku, and Felix Williams . Beautiful Slim, in a final featherweight eliminator.

The thrills are expected to continue in leave the final bout of the night between Emmanuel Danso of the Wisdom Gym and Stephen Mensah of the Akwamu Boxing Club in a light heavyweight contest. 

The competition, which is under the auspices of Nii Akwanor, is expected to prepare and groom the young prize fighters towards annexing the next world title which had eluded Ghana for years now.
