Commey promises exciting fight in Denmark

Richard Commey (18-0, 17 KOs) is the latest addition to the Nordic Fight Night on Saturday at the Albertslund MusikTeatret in Copenhagen, Denmark. The power-punching Ghanaian is promising excitement in his debut against Samir Ziani (17-1-1, 3 KOs).

‘’I’m really looking forward to the fight this Saturday,’’ said Commey, ‘’I’m expecting a tough fight. Ziani has fought with some quality boxers. He is an aggressive southpaw, but I am confident I have the ability to beat him. I want to impress, and that is exactly what I intend to do. The Danish fans can expect excitement and a quality performance”’

This will be Commey’s return, having claimed the Commonwealth title in his last fight with unanimous points victory over UK prospect, Gary Buckland, in July this year.

The world ranked lightweight is eager to build on this success and push for a world title challenge next year.

‘’Winning the Commonwealth title meant a great deal, not only to me and my team but to all Ghanaians. We have chased this belt for some time but we have been having difficulties for one reason or another but we persevered and reached our goal” Commey said.

He said ‘’After so many disappointments for Ghanaians, there was a real sense of joy and achievement and one that will help other Ghanaians realise that they can also step out of the shadows of being used as cannon fodder for UK fighters and compete at a higher level”,  “My aim now is to become world champion. I want to put myself in contention for a world title challenge next year’’.

The promoter of the fight, Nisse Sauerland, said ‘’We are delighted to have Richard fighting on our show, he is one of the most exciting lightweights on the planet and will be an excellent addition to the line up.’’
