Coach Lokko: Selassie Gosh will take Ghana boxing by storm

Lawrence Carl Lokko, trainer of promising bantamweight boxer Daniel Selassie Gosh, has described his ward as someone who will take Ghana boxing by storm in the coming years.

Lokko explained that Gosh was ready to make his professional debut by December, having recently signed a three-year managerial pact with L&B Management Syndicate.

The 20-year-old fighter is coming from the amateur ranks with a 48-2 record. His two amateur defeats came at the hands of John Commey, who died two months ago

In an interview with Graphic Sports, the Bronx Boxing Club head trainer said he was looking at pairing Gosh with the best fighters in the division to prepare him for future championships.

“Gosh is a very talented fighter who has all the attributes to make it big in the sport. I have no doubt that he will get far in the professional ranks.

“He is ready to make an impact, having had a good amateur career. The plan is to ensure he fights credible boxers to put him in shape for the world stage in the future,” Lokko revealed.

In a separate interview with Graphic Sports, Gosh said he was ready to learn from his trainer in order to become one of the best fighters at bantamweight.

He said the national title would be his first target “when I kick off my professional career.”

That, he said, would put him in line for the continental title, before looking at the world stage.

“I know it is not going to be easy for me but I am ready to learn from my trainer,” he pointed out.

“I will continue working hard to get to the top and I have my eyes set on the national title once I make my professional debut,” Gosh added.
