Captan to supervise WBO fight in Tokyo
The World Boxing Organisation (WBO) Asia Pacific and Africa Board Chairman, Samir Captan, says he is ready to ensure that all precautionary measures are adhered to when he supervises the Giemel Magramo and Junto Nakatani vacant flyweight championship bout on July 4, 2020 in Tokyo.
Mr Captan told the Daily Graphic that he was glad that clearance had been given for the bout to take place to offer fighters the opportunity to return to the ring.

“It falls within my jurisdiction so I am ready to ensure all precautionary measures are met before the bout takes place. This is something we are really taking seriously because it puts everyone’s life in danger if it is not adhered to,” he said.

The WBO has sanctioned the flyweight championship contest between Filipino Giemel Magramo and Junto Nakatani of Japan to take place next month.
According to a statement signed by WBO President, Francisco Valcárcel, and copied to Samir Captan, the organisers of the bout were expected to meet all protocol requirements in the midst of COVID-19 with local health directives.

The statement noted that boxers and all critical personnel for the staging of the event and its operations must be tested per the regulations set forth by the promoter in compliance with applicable local and government authorities in the host nation.
“If fan attendance is allowed, there shall be one section row empty in between. There shall be one empty seat in between per section row implementing applicable physical distancing guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus,” the statement read.
“No fans will be allowed to stand during the event unless for exiting purposes and or bathroom services through the notification of an event personnel.
All personnel will have their temperature taken. If such a person has a temperature at or greater than the one permitted by local and/or government authorities, the person will not be permitted to enter the arena or remain on the premises,” it added.
