Bombers intensify preparations for Commonwealth Games

The  national amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers have intensified their training  ahead of the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland in August.

The team, made up of 10 boxers including two reserves and three officials are currently camping at the national hockey pitch in Accra.

The boxers include captain Sulemanu Tetteh, Wahid Omar Abdul, Jessie Lartey, Musah Raman Lawson, Azumah Mohammed and David Akankolin Bawah. The rest are Osumanu Haruna and Sarah Botchwey, Yindana Kublila and Jibil Ahmed as the two reserves.

When the Daily Graphic visited the team’s  training at the Accra Stadium last Wednesday, the boxers were busily working on the  punchings bags at the D.G. Hathiramani Sports Hall.

Coach Ofori Asare said , morale in camp was very high, and the boxers were well motivated to perform at the Games.
