Allotey promises to stop opponent in Saturday’s ‘Discovery Karakata’ bill

Even before mounting the ring for his eight-round welterweight contest at the Arts Centre on February 22,  18-year-old boxing prodigy, Kpakpo Allotey, had declared that he would stop his opponent, Dodzi Kermah.

The undefeated pugilist from the Bronx Boxing Gym, who has a fight record of three wins with two knockouts, told the Daily Graphic that his opponent had been avoiding him ever since their fight was fixed, by refusing to attend interviews together with him, adding that Kermah from the Saga Gym was scared of him.

“I haven’t seen any of Kermah’s fights, but he keeps avoiding me; we were supposed to be here together but I think he is scared of me. That’s why he didn’t come. I have been training very hard and I know I will stop him but I can’t predict the round,” the boxer said.

Allotey’s assistant trainer, Charles Mahama, described the action-packed “Discovery Karakata” bill as a night to herald the future of Ghana boxing.

“Discovery Karakata has been overshadowed in recent weeks by the announcement of the Ayitey Powers-Bukom Banku bout but I believe those boxers are over the hill. It will be an easy one-sided victory for Banku,” the veteran trainer predicted.

“Karakata is about the future of the sport and grooming the next generation towards to win a world title. Aside the blockbuster contest involving my fighter, the bout involving Aryee Ayitey, alias “Volcano”, and Isaac Selorm, alias “Terror Stone”, promises to be a thriller for boxing fans.”
