Alban Bagbin tasks Emmanuel Tagoe to remain disciplined

The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Bagbin, has advised lightweight fighter, Emmanuel ‘Gameboy’ Tagoe, to remain disciplined if he wants to reach far in the sport.

Mr Bagbin explained that Tagoe could only reach higher heights if he would continue to train harder.

Addressing Tagoe when he paid a courtesy call on him last Monday, the Speaker of Parliament said he was ready to use his office to support the boxer to achieve success for Ghana.

He, therefore, tasked Tagoe to ensure that he came out victorious in his upcoming World Boxing Organisation (WBO) lightweight title eliminator in May.
“I am glad to have met you and I have to laud you for what you have achieved in the sport,” he said.

“There are more successes to be chalked up and I want to call on you to remain disciplined since that is the only way to achieve greatness in the sport,” Mr Bagbin said.

Tagoe, who presented his WBO Africa and IBO lightweight titles to the Speaker of Parliament, assured Mr Bagbin and Ghanaians of victory in his next bout.

Tagoe’s assurance

The boxer said he was training tirelessly to ensure he won another world title for the country by the close of the year.

“I am glad for the warm reception and I want to take the opportunity to inform you about my next bout in May.

“It will be a step closer to becoming a world champion and I want to assure your office and Ghanaians of victory,” he stressed.

For her part, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ada, Ms Comfort Doyoe, commended Tagoe for his efforts in boxing and asked him to add his name to the history in the sport.

“I have heard of your achievements in boxing but I want you to add your name to boxing’s history by achieving more successes,” she said.
