Adamu’s opponent, Fielding, failed to make the weight for the bout, thus offering Adamu that rare opportunity .

The Merseyside-based boxer had the edge over the Ghanaian with a unanmous decision of 120-108, 120-108, and 120-108 against Adamu.

At the Kotoka International Airport last week, Adamu told the media that he was unfazed by the temporary setback, but was gearing up for the world title bout.

His manager, Mohammed Abdul Samed, confirmed to the Daily Graphic that his ward would fight George Adamu in an undercard in the Bukom Banku and Ayittey Powers bout scheduled for the Accra Stadium on April 18.

He disclosed that Adamu would plunge into serious training this week in preparation for the two bouts.

Samed said he was hopeful his boxer would annex the world title by the close of the year.
