I’ve not violated GOC statutes - Prof Dodoo
The president of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC), Prof. Francis Dodoo, insists the committee’s decision to hold its elective congress by April next year is constitutionally mandated.

Reacting to assertions that the GOC is unduly dragging its feet on the election, Prof. Dodoo explained that the GOC statutes stated that elections must be held after the Olympic and must not exceed April of the following year.
Some members of the 30 sports federations have expressed misgivings about what they view as the refusal of the GOC to hold elections immediately after the Rio Olympics which they contend violated the stipulated laws.
But in an interview with the Graphic Sports, Prof. Dodoo, said "The decision is backed by the constitution and I don't know where I violated the laws of the GOC.
"The law clearly states that elective congress must be held after the Olympiad but must not exceed April of the following year," he added.
Prof. Dodoo, who doubles as the president of the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA), also debunked rumours that he met with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to convince them to hold the elections next year and stated that it could be held before April.
In July, the Ghana Weightlifting Federation (GWF) secured a court injunction to restrain the GOC from holding its Ordinary Congress which was to discuss, among others, the audited accounts of the committee .
They inisisted the GOC had no right to hold the congress when all the members had agreed that elections should be held immediately after the Olympics.
