Andre Ayew: Our dream is to win AFCON

According to him, just as any other Ghanaian’s dream, his personal dream was to break that jinx and make sure Ghana touch the trophy once again after the country last saw it in 1982.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghanafa the Swansea City deputy skipper said they have more than a year to prepare for the competition and despite the introduction of new players into the team he has n doubt the can rise to the occasion.

“Our dream, every Ghanaian’s dream, my personal dream is to make sure that the trophy comes home. But we have one year and a half to go, so we are going to take our time.

“We have to play the qualifications, we have time to groom, it’s a new Black Stars though I don’t really like the name new Black Stars. Black Stars is Black Stars, if you come in and wear the jersey, you have to prove your worth and like I said, there are a lot of players who are there, who are tested and proven players in their League”, he stated.

He was happy by the new players that have been invited into the team since they would bring competition among the players because they would want to seal a permanent place in the team.

“For me, I believe that the boys who are here will give their best, the staff and Ghanaians will be able to see them play, see them on the pitch. And everybody has to be ready for the future and everybody is going to fight for a place.

“Everybody is going to make sure that he is in the squad that will be used for the qualifiers next month and future so we have to be ready for that. I hope that we make it”, he said.
