New mission house for Adweso St. Dominic Parish

The one-storey building, which will serve as a residential facility for reverend fathers of the church, contains five bedrooms, two halls, a conference hall, a dining hall, a kitchen, a storeroom, a washroom and a garage.

The Priest in charge of the parish at Adweso, Rev. Father Frederick Opoku Obeng, cut the tape to officially inaugurate the facility before it was blessed by the Catholic Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Afrifah-Agyekum, who was on a five-day pastoral visit to the parish.

The visit of the Catholic Bishop to the parish gave him the opportunity to have first-hand information and activities of the church.

Prompt at work

He said the provision of the mission house near the parish was to enable reverend fathers and other servants of God using the facility to be prompt at the parish to lead parishioners.

He said since the mission house was built for God's work, it must be kept tidy and well maintained at all times.

Most Rev. Afrifah-Agyekum briefed the gathering on the acquisition of the land on which the facility was put up to stop people from encroaching.

The bishop said before then, the church had decided to purchase a building to serve as a mission house but since that house did not belong to the parish, they had to purchase the land to put up a permanent mission house.

He asked the parishioners to serve the people of God in and with love.

Proximity

For his part, Rev. Father Obeng, who was excited about the new mission house, said its proximity to the parish would facilitate the work of the Rev. Fathers.

He, however, assured Bishop Afrifah-Agyekum of keeping the facility clean at all times since God needed cleanliness.

Earlier, Bishop Afrifah-Agyekum led the parishioners in worship.
