They said the vision of the President borders on four pillars: putting the people first, developing a strong and resilient economy, expanding infrastructure and ensuring a transparent and accountable governance, is another step towards ensuring that the ‘Better Ghana Agenda’ was made real.

A statement signed by Mohammed Nuru-Deen Rashas, the Director for Communications, urged the President to expedite action on the projects scheduled to take place under the first pillar of the President’s national development programme as it would go a long way to facilitate health concerns in the country.

It also urged the appropriate authorities to quickly proceed with the planned construction of the new teaching hospital for the University of Ghana Medical School, the establishment of regional hospitals in the Eastern and Upper East Regions, and the continuation of work on the Upper West Regional Hospital, amongst others.

The statement expressed satisfaction at the efforts of the presidency to help in solving the energy crisis, saying “the energy situation is causing you sleepless nights and it is hoped that you will do everything to restore normality to our energy concerns.”

It said equally important was the concern of the President on the unemployment situation in the country and that more was also needed to be done to ensure the success of the Youth Jobs and Enterprise Development Fund which is expected to be launched soon.

The statement said it had noted the President’s aversion towards corruption and urged him to “crack the whip where it is necessary in order to uphold and maintain the integrity of his government.”

It said the actions of the minority in Parliament was preposterous; after boycotting the vetting of minister-designates, the minority is now seeking to examine them in Parliament.

The statement urged them to reflect the varied aspirations of their constituents on whose account they are parliamentarians, saying, the interest of Ghana takes precedence over “unbridled partisanship”. – GNA
