Workshop on identity management system for Accra

A two-day workshop with the key objective to synchronise identity management system in the country has been scheduled to take place at the Institute of Local Government Studies at Madina in Accra.
Organised by the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development, in collaboration with the National Identification Authority (NIA), the workshop will be held from Monday, December 2 to Tuesday, December 3, 2013.
Currently, there are seven institutional biometric databases  in Ghana.  This has necessitated the need for the development of a common platform to synchronise the various institutional databases into a centralised system.
The institutions are the NIA, Electoral Commission, National Health Insurance Scheme, DVLA, Passport Office, Ghana Immigration Service and the Ministry of Finance.
The keynote address will be delivered by the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Akwa
