We must work together to develop Ghana - K.B. Asante

A senior citizen and one-time Secretary to Ghana’s First President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, Mr. K.B. Asante,  has called on Ghanaians to put aside their ethnic and political differences and unite to develop the nation.

His call comes on the heels of President Mahama’s Independence anniversary speech in which he called on Ghanaians to refocus their energies on solving the country’s problems, instead of standing aloof and complaining.

Mr. Asante, who was speaking on an Accra-based radio station, added that the country could not attain the expected level of development with the current individualistic lifestyle of Ghanaians.

“What we have to do is make sure that Ghanaians stay here to work; the bright ones must stay here to work. Ghanaians tend to be a bit individualistic; they want to do things themselves. … .we are not very good at working together.…so we don’t have enterprises because of that character of ours. But we can overcome it,” he said.
