Voting in Achimota smooth

Voting begun on time in most polling stations in Achimota as electoral officials were prompt in the delivery of verification machines and other electoral materials. At the St Anthony Primary School at the Trobu constituency voting started at 7a.m. when graphic.com.gh visited the polling station 89 people had voted as of 8:30a.m.

The presiding officer, Mr Enoch Enninful, said the process has been smooth and was hopeful that majority of the 589 registered voters would cast their vote before the end of the process.

At the Church in Accra polling station A at New Achimota voting according to the presiding officer, Mr Emmanuel Arthur, started at 7a.m. and as of 9:20 a.m. 92 people had cast their vote.

The polling station has 617 registered voters.

At the same polling station B 160 registered voters had cast their ballot. The presiding officer, Mr Fred Ankoma, said the station was opened to voting at 7a.m.

At the Kinsby Hotel polling station also at New Achimota 228 people had voted as of 10a.m.

The process at the Korkdam Hotel polling station was smooth as there was fewer queues at the time graphic.com.gh visited the place.

Of the 559 registered voters 199 had cast their vote as of 10:15a.m.

The situation at the Victory Nursery School polling station was different as there was a long winding queue.

The polling station has been divided into A and B and voters were asked to join a particular queue depending in the alphabetical order their names appeared in the voters register.

As of 10:35 am 253 people had voted whiles at the B section 8175 had cast their vote of the 827 registered voters.

There was virtually no queue at the Little Angels Day Care centre at Achimota when graphic.com.gh got to the polling station.

According to the presiding officer, Mr Michael Wilson, voting started at 7a.m. prompt. 114 people out of the 307 registered voters had already cast their ballot as of 11:45a.m.

Romeo Torkornoo reports that as of 7:20a.m. Voting at the St Ann polling station at the Okai Koi Central constituency had not started.

He said all the electoral officials had not arrived for which reason the process delayed. He added that voting at the Tengekope polling station was brought to a temporal halt when the verification machine rejected ten registered voters resulting in confusion.
