This week in Parliament

 The Speaker, Mr Edward Doe AdjahoA paper requesting parliamentary approval for government’s access to the international capital market to issue a second Eurobond of up to $1billion is to be presented to the House on Tuesday.

This is contained in the business statement for this week, which was presented by the Leader of Government Business in the House, Dr Benjamin Bewa-Nyog Kunbuor.

It did not provide further details.

According to the statement, a report of Ghana’s representatives to the Community Parliament of ECOWAS on the First Ordinary Session of the Third Legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament held in Abuja Nigeria from May 6 to May 21, will also be laid.

On Wednesday, the statement said, the report of the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) on the management of petroleum revenues for the period January 1 to June 30, 2012 would be presented.

The annual report on the activities of the Audit Service for the years ended December 31, 2010 and 2011 would also be laid.

On Thursday, the House is expected to adopt the report of Ghana’s representatives to the ECOWAS Parliament and take the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) Bill through the consideration stage.

On Friday, the various committees of Parliament are expected to sit.

The Speaker of Parliament, Mr Edward Doe Adjaho, is also expected to admit statements from members of the House on topical issues in the country.
