The size of this government very necessary- Akufo-Addo

President Akufo-Addo says that he believes the government would have had it very difficult to achieve what it has done so far with a smaller number of ministers.

"The machinery of government in our country is such that if the political direction at the top is not strong, the delivery becomes an issue," he said in defence yet again of the size of his government.

He was speaking at a media encounter at the Jubilee House on Friday, December 13.

Many continue to criticize the size of government, saying with a population of less than 30 million, Ghana should not have the size of government with more than 100 ministers.

A journalist, Serwaa Amihere of GhOne TV had asked the president if he intends to keep the number or would listen to the counsel and critics to reduce the size of his government.

The President said he supports the idea of having a bigger size of government because it was necessary for their performance so far.

"I still stand by the fact that the numbers were necessary for the work which we have done", he responded.
